Total Internal Reflection (TIR) is a blog dealing with the human side of science, written by Brooke Morriswood, a junior group leader at the University of Würzburg, Germany and illustrated by Oliver Hoeller, a freelance science illustrator (http://oliverhoeller.com). TIR topics include publishing, gender equality and family issues, funding, life at the bench, mentoring, and the larger world of science, in addition to a series of “how to…” guides aimed at improving soft skills for young scientists.
