Monkeys can teach us how to avoid a financial collapse

Researchers at the University of California have concluded that social networks among primates provide valuable lessons that could help predict catastrophes like the 2008 global financial crisis. Captive rhesus macaque monkeys, just like the banking industry, have complex networks. According to the researchers, crises are sometimes caused by breakdowns in these internal networks. Catastrophic collapses could be avoided by monitoring changes in these key internal networks. Read more in International Journal of Forecasting.
