Can antibiotic intake in early life lead to obesity in adulthood?

Researchers from New York University Langone Medical Center found that low doses of antibiotics in the early life of mice led to obesity when they grew up due to long-lasting consequences of the Additionally on gut microbes. Further, when the gut microbes were transferred from antibiotic-treated mice to germ-free animals, these animals gained weight. The implications of these findings could be immense in the context of epidemiological data. Aditionally, this study provides an evidence of the effects of antibiotics on long-term health.
